Bird oracles by two or more augurs

introductio

Short description

A fragment of a bird oracle signed by a group of augurs. The incomplete formula might be restored as a report by “the chief of the augurs” or possibly by one or more individuals bearing the title “augurs” (see notes to the translation).

D. Groddek (19.10.2005) proposed an indirect join between this fragment and KUB 49.34, but there are doubts regarding the similarity of the scripts in the two fragments. The content is also too ambiguous to confirm an identification, as KUB 49.34 contains extispicy reports in addition to bird oracles. For these reasons, we treat the two fragments separately, following the previous edition by Sakuma Y. 2009b.
